Jackie van Bueren, BSc
West Sussex, UK
Solutions-focussed medical communications professional, passionate about implementing and maintaining high standards of writing. I enjoy training/coaching/mentoring medical writers, fostering collaboration and driving the development of new ways of working.

Skills
My skills are wide-ranging, but include
- Training and development of medical writers
- Medical writing process development
- Scientific content development and oversight (commercial deliverables, educational materials, publications)
- Publications management (within medical communications agencies and directly with the pharmaceutical industry)
I’m happy to put my hand to any type of medical writing. I particularly enjoy translating complex information into clear and easy-to-understand concepts in the form of visual slide decks or other short-form writing projects.

Therapy areas
A long-standing career within medical communications has afforded me the opportunity to work across many different therapeutic areas. Much of my career has also involved overseeing medical writing teams, which has necessitated an agile mindset in terms of understanding content. I pride myself in the ability to familiarise myself rapidly with new information.

Experience
For >27 years I worked in medical communications agencies of various sizes on accounts that ranged from blockbuster drugs to therapies for rare diseases. I started as a medical writer, working my way up to overseeing Client, divisional and company writing teams. I am often called upon for my expertise in understanding how to structure and communicate a story to different audiences and/or to ensure high team standards are delivered and maintained efficiently both within the internal team and to Clients.
